On the radio this afternoon, they were interviewing the state president of NOW, the National Organization for Women. She was saying that abortion should be legal, but that we should have more education and better contraception. No problem so far. Then she goes on to say that since we can send people around the galaxy, we should be able to have more reliable birth control. WAIT A MINUTE! We are nowhere near sending people around the galaxy. We have in the past sent a few people to the moon. The farthest reaches of the galaxy are billions of times further than that. It's like comparing the thickness of a human hair with the size of a city, or like comparing a millimeter to the size of a large country. But actually, we only send people into orbit a couple hundred miles up. Comparing this to the stretches of the galaxy is like comparing the thickness of a human hair to the size of a planet. Not that this has anything to do with NOW, but I just like to point out when people clearly don't have a clue what they are talking about.
