You know how you drive on the freeway and it says you are heading on Route 101N, but then it curves and goes west and east and south and north. Yeah, overall, over a stretch of hundreds of miles, you are clearly going more north than any other direction. However, there may be stretches of 100 miles where you are going more west than north. Maybe we shouldn't use North, South, East, and West when describing the direction that highways go. Maybe we should just call the 2 directions 101a and 101b. Why not!?
