Gasoline Tanks is my topic of today. The car I drive, a 1995 Nissan Altima, according to the manual, has a 16 gallon fuel tank. Well, getting gas is not my favorite hobby. I prefer to do it as infrequently as I can. Thus, I want to let my tank run as low as possible before I fuel up again. Well, I drive till the fuel light comes on and then I think about getting gas. Now, this fuel light means "Empty". So, when it comes on, I figure I better get gas real soon. But if I do that, the car only takes about 11 gallons of gas. This means there is 5 gallons left, almost 1/3 of the tank, hardly an empty tank. So, I've been experimenting....driving for many miles after the light goes on, 50 miles or more at times. Even after doing this many times, the most I've gotten the car to take was 13.6 gallons, meaning that I had 2.4 gallons left. This is enough to drive more than 50 miles. I wish that the empty light would come on when it really means it, maybe when I have 2 or 3 gallons left at the most. Otherwise, I end up driving around for 50 miles with the fuel light on, knowing that I surely can drive for 50 or more miles without running out of gas. At the same time, I get really nervous cuz the fuel light has been on so long. Anyway, I wish that empty didn't really mean 1/3 full.
