While sitting in front of my computer the phone rang. It was a telemarketer from the LA Times. I like it when telemarketers call when I have time to talk to them. I know that there is no way that I'm gonna buy the product, but they don't know this. Even if I tell them, they don't believe it. So, this LA Times telemarketer calls and starts telling me how great the LA times is and how cheap it is and how I should get it and she starts asking me for my address and all that. Well, during this time, I did a Net Search for LA Times. I quickly went to the LA Times Web Site and looked around. I saw dozens of stories from today's paper. Admittedly, I didn't see any pictures or coupons or the TV guide (I don't have a TV anyway), but it seemed to have all the articles. I interupted the telemarketer and told her that I have the LA Times for free on my computer and she argued that it costs money to access this site. But she was wrong. It wasn't costing me anything. Once I convinced her of this, she realized that I wasn't about to subscribe. I also told her about how I can read newspapers and magazines from around the world for FREE, so why would I want to PAY for a newspaper to be delivered to my door. I mean on some days I'll view a half dozen or more news sites on the Web. If I subscribed to all these at home, I'd have a big pile of newspaper at the end of each day.
