Lucky. That supermarket here in Southern California. The ones who have the commercials with that annoying woman who covers the Rose Parade for Channel 5. You know, "Lucky, the low price leader". They go on advertising that they are the low price leader. Maybe they are. I dunno. Then they have these new commercials where they interview people and ask them which supermarket they think of when they think of Low prices. Of course these people say "Lucky". Now, nowhere is this commercial saying that Lucky actually has the lowest prices...just that people associate the phrase "low prices" with Lucky. Of course, they didn't go and compare prices, they were just brainwashed by previous commercials.

And Lucky has this 3's a crowd policy. If there are more than 3 people in line, they "guarantee" to open another check out register. Of course, they won't do this if they don't have enough people working there, which can happen at times. This is fine, but they shouldn't make this guarantee, or they should only make it during certain hours.

At the Lucky near me, this problem seems to occur late in the evenings. They only have 1 or 2 check out registers open, but there are a lot of students who shop in the evening. So, nearly half the time, there are about 6 people waiting in each line. I spoke with the manager and she said it was the day managers fault for not schedulnig more people in the evenings. I talked to the day manager and he said that they were not being organized enough in the night shift. They offered to give me a coupon for $1 off my next trip to Lucky. I don't want $1. I simply want them to stick to their word. If they guarantee to open a new checkstand then they should do it. It's a matter of principle.
