Near where I live there is talk of building more homes. Lots of people are protesting this for various reasons. Maybe some of these reasons are good, but not the following. People who live on one street don't want the homes because traffic on their street will increase by like 350%. Well, my opinion is that's just tough. Did they sign a contract that says that they have a right to block housing development to reduce traffic on their street? They don't own the street. If it was so important for them to buy a house on a street with no traffic, they should have gone out in the middle of nowhere and built their own house. I mean they buy a house near an empty lot and then think they have some right to block developers so that they won't have to deal with more cars on their street. I mean, of course they don't want more cars on their street. No one does, but if everyone could block anything they don't like, no new homes would ever be built. To use a more common example, no one wants a garbage dump in their neighborhood, but you have to have the garbage dump somewhere.
