I think that some radio stations should just not bother with the news. There are 3 talk radio stations I listen to from the LA area. 790 KABC, 710 KTZN, and 640 KFI. All of them have the news on the top of the hour and at 30 minutes past the hour. KABC has ABC news which is fine. 710 and 640 have "local" news or they have some local newsman delivering the news. Most of the time, I think we'd all be better off if they just skipped the news. This morning on KTZN they are talking about Mir, the Russian Space Station. The situation is this. Right now there are 2 Russian cosmonauts and one American astronaut on Mir. They need to do some spacewalks on Mir to make some repairs. The 2 cosmonauts are supposed to do the spacewalk, but one of the cosmonauts is having minor heart problems, so there are only a few options. One of these options, probably the first one that would come up without thinking too hard, is to have the American astronaut replace the unhealthy Russian cosmonaut to do the spacewalk. Well, KTZN reports that there is consideration that an American may take the place of a cosmonaut to do the spacewalk. They kinda overplayed that, maybe implying that the Russians are too incompetant to do it themselves. Then, they went on to joke about how they'd hate to be that American to replace the Russian guy, to have to go up there and live with the Russians on the space station. I mean it's like the whole situation exists because there is already an American astronaut living up there on Mir with the Russians. The news reporter made himself look like he knew absolutely nothing about what he was talking about, like he was just reading a script or something. This world would be a better place if they would just not even bother trying with the news.
