You know when there is a pedestrian cross walk and a pedestrian comes up to it. Say there is a car coming, but not a whole stream of traffic. The Pedestrian usually pushes the button to cross the street. Then the car goes by and the light has not yet changed but the pedestrian quickly crosses the street. Then, just as a big stream of traffic comes 20 seconds later, the light finally turns red and stayed red just long enough to allow the slowest person to corss the street. All the time, the person who pushed the button is well on his or her way. Now, if they are going to jaywalk, that's great, but they ought not press the button and hold up traffic like that as well.
