This is an excerpt from an e-mail I sent to my cousin Rachel in Colorado:
You know that thing about that planecrash in Florida. It's been making me think. Well, first of all, why do we make such a big deal about it? There is a big plane crash like that a couple times a year, but every week, hundreds of people die in car accidents in this country and no politicians are saying that we need to investigate stuff and make cars safer. It makes you wonder if it's the politicians who are stupid, or that they are smart, but know that that average Joe is the one who is stupid and the average Joe will think the politicians are doing what is right. While I disagree with everything that Buchanan stands for, at least he stands for what he believes is right, rather than what the average Joe with a 75 IQ thinks is right. Same thing with the gas tax. I mean they should just raise the gas tax by a full dollar a gallon. People will drive less and the world will be a better place. And they want to lower it by 4.3 cents, as if that's gonna make any difference. I mean I can't believe that even the average Joe with the 75 IQ would think that 4 cents really makes a difference. I mean the price of gas has been more stable than inflation, and in recent months it is catching up, but still gas is far far cheaper than any other country in the world, although I suppose it's cheaper in Saudi Arabia, but I mean in Europe they have like $2 a gallon tax on gas.
