It's the media again. They just can't seem to get simple technical facts straight. They always refer to the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. Today, it seems that some Challenger debris has washed ashore in Florida. "After the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded 11 years ago...," they say. The Space Shuttle did not explode! It was the aft end of the large external tank broke off, and the hydrogen fuel burned. This brought down the space shuttle. There is a quote in this AP article, "'What does this tell me that's new?' asked Bruce Jarvis, father of Challenger crew member Gregory Jarvis. 'There's nothing new about it. It doesn't change the situation or the picture at all, really.'" At first it sounds like a stupid thing for him to say. But, no doubt, it was the media who were asking the stupid questions. Probably calling him to see if they get a reaction to all this. What the hell is the guy supposed to say?
